The laser we actually use
Most clinics will not tell you what is in the room. Ours is the Alma Soprano Titanium, and the reason it matters is that it fires three wavelengths at once rather than one:
| Wavelength | Depth it reaches | What it is best at |
|---|---|---|
| 755 nm Alexandrite | Shallow | Fine and lighter hair sitting close to the surface |
| 810 nm Diode | Mid | The workhorse depth — most hair, most of the time |
| 1064 nm Nd:YAG | Deep | Coarse, deep-rooted hair — and the wavelength that makes darker skin safe |
Why three beats one
Hair in any single patch of skin is not all at the same depth. Follicle depth varies by body area, by how coarse the hair is, and by which phase of the growth cycle each follicle happens to be in on the day you are treated. A single-wavelength laser has one penetration profile — it treats the follicles sitting at its optimal depth well, and everything shallower or deeper less well.
Firing all three together means a shallow follicle, a mid-depth one and a deep one can each receive an effective dose in the same pass. More of the follicles present in a treatment area are treated properly per session, rather than a fraction of them being treated properly and the rest partially. That is the practical reason a triple-wavelength system tends to need fewer sessions to reach the same reduction than a single-wavelength one.
The blend is set to your skin type, not a preset
The three wavelengths are not fixed at equal strength. Each is dialed up or down against your Fitzpatrick skin type, which is the part that makes one platform safe across the whole scale. For darker skin, Types V and VI, the balance shifts toward 1064 nm — surface melanin barely absorbs it, so the energy reaches the follicle rather than the skin around it. For lighter skin with fine hair, more of the work moves to 755 nm, which is better absorbed by less pigmented hair.
This is why the same device treats Fitzpatrick I through VI where older alexandrite-only machines were genuinely unsafe on darker skin: they had one wavelength and no way to shift the balance. If another clinic has turned you away over your skin tone, that was a limitation of their equipment, not of you. Our laser hair removal guide explains why wavelength decides this.
The comfort claim has hardware behind it too. Rather than a few high-energy shots, the system sweeps in motion at low fluence with the handpiece cooling the skin continuously throughout — the reason most clients describe it as warm rather than the snapped-elastic sensation older lasers are known for.

- People done with the weekly shave-wax-repeat cycle
- Clients other clinics couldn't safely treat because of skin tone
- Anyone prone to ingrown hairs on legs, bikini, or beard area
- People who want to stop paying for maintenance and start paying for results
