Searching for IPL near you in Marietta? IPL (sometimes called a "photofacial") is one of the most versatile tools we offer for sun damage, redness, and uneven skin tone — but it isn't safe for every skin tone, and that's where many clinics get clients into trouble. At Majspa, we screen your Fitzpatrick skin type at intake, recommend IPL only when it's appropriate, and use alternative protocols when it isn't.
Why Majspa for IPL in Marietta
- Physician-led screening. Dr. Nokuthula Msimanga, MD oversees protocols, and your Fitzpatrick type is assessed at intake — we don't run IPL on skin tones where the risk outweighs the benefit.
- Modern device with adjustable filters for pigment-focused, vascular-focused, or general rejuvenation passes.
- Honest alternatives if IPL isn't right for you — ClearLift Laser, mandelic and salicylic peels, VI Peel Precision Plus, microneedling with peptides, and medical-grade topicals all give pigment and texture results without IPL's skin-tone risk.
- Series-based pricing with discounts on packages of 3.
- Sun-protection coaching. Without daily SPF, IPL results don't last — we set you up with the right products.
What IPL treats
- Sun damage and age spots (lentigines) on face, chest, and hands
- Freckles — if you want them faded
- Broken capillaries and small spider veins on the face
- Rosacea redness in selected cases
- Uneven skin tone, dullness, and overall photoaging
IPL is not the right tool for melasma (deeper, hormone-driven pigment that often worsens with IPL), active acne flares, or deep wrinkles — we have better protocols for those.
How IPL works at our Marietta studio
IPL delivers pulses of broad-spectrum light filtered to wavelength ranges that target either pigment (melanin) or blood vessels (hemoglobin). The light is absorbed selectively by those targets, breaks them down, and your body's lymphatic and immune systems clear the debris over the following days.
For deeper pigment problems — particularly melasma — we usually pair or replace IPL with our hyperpigmentation treatment program, which uses peels and topicals safer on darker skin tones.

Where we serve
Our Marietta studio is convenient to clients across Cobb County and metro Atlanta:
What to expect
- Complimentary consult & skin analysis. Fitzpatrick screening, photographs, and an honest assessment of whether IPL is appropriate for you.
- Pre-treatment. Avoid sun, self-tanner, and retinoids in the 2 weeks before each session. Arrive with clean skin.
- Treatment. Eye protection, a thin layer of cooling gel, then the IPL pulses. Most full-face sessions take 20–30 minutes. Brief warm "rubber-band" sensation per pulse.
- The next 1–3 days. Pigmented spots darken ("coffee grounds") and then flake off. Mild redness for a few hours. Makeup the next day.
- Series. 3 to 5 sessions, 4 weeks apart, for cumulative results. Maintenance 1–2 times per year.
Frequently asked questions
Is IPL safe for my skin tone?
IPL is safest on Fitzpatrick I–IV. It can cause burns or pigmentation changes on darker skin (Types V–VI). We screen at intake and offer alternatives — ClearLift Laser, mandelic peels, microneedling, medical-grade topicals — when IPL isn't appropriate. We'll tell you honestly.
What does IPL treat?
Sun damage, lentigines, freckles, broken capillaries, rosacea redness (selected cases), and uneven skin tone. It does not effectively treat melasma or deep pigment.
IPL vs. laser — what's the difference?
A laser uses one specific wavelength; IPL uses a broad spectrum filtered to a range. IPL is more versatile (pigment + vessels in one session) but less precise. For darker skin pigment work, single-wavelength lasers like Nd:YAG are usually safer.
How many sessions will I need?
3 to 5 sessions, spaced about 4 weeks apart. Series of 3 is the typical starting plan. Maintenance is 1–2 sessions per year after.
What's the recovery?
Mild redness for a few hours. Pigmented spots darken to a "coffee grounds" look for 1–3 days then flake off — a sign it worked. Makeup the next day. Strict daily SPF 30+ afterward is non-negotiable.
What does it cost in Marietta?
Spot from $150, hands from $200, full face from $300, decollete from $350. Series of 3 discounted.
Will my sun damage come back?
Sun-driven pigmentation can return with future sun exposure. Daily SPF and sun protection are essential. Most clients also benefit from 1–2 maintenance sessions per year.
