Kennesaw, GA
IPL at Majspa treats sun damage, age spots, freckles and uneven tone from $250 a session, typically three to five sessions four weeks apart. It is screened by skin tone. We are 15 minutes down I‑75 from Kennesaw.
Intense pulsed light is not a laser. It fires a broad spectrum of light rather than one wavelength, and pigment in the skin absorbs it — brown spots darken over a few days, then flake away. On the same pass it hits some of the vascular component, which is why overall tone evens out rather than just the spots disappearing.
This is the part worth reading before you book, because it is the most common disappointment we see. IPL does not reliably treat melasma, and it can make it worse. Melasma is driven by hormones and heat, and IPL delivers heat. If the discoloration on your cheeks or upper lip appeared during pregnancy or on the pill, and it darkens in summer, that is more likely melasma than sun damage — and the honest answer is a different treatment plan.
It also does not do much for deep pigment. Surface-level spots respond; deeper ones need something else. We would rather tell you at consultation than sell you a course of five.
Because IPL is absorbed by pigment, it is inherently riskier on darker skin — there is more pigment in the way, and the light cannot tell a sun spot from your skin. We screen for this rather than treating everyone with the same settings. On darker skin tones we will often steer you to ClearLift or another approach instead.
Take I‑75 South to the Johnson Ferry Road exit — about 15 minutes from Town Center at Cobb, a little longer from the Acworth side. Free on-site parking at 1401 Johnson Ferry Rd, Suite 100A.
We are open Tuesday to Friday 9am–5pm and Saturday 9am–3pm.
Probably not, and it can worsen it. Melasma is hormonally driven and aggravated by heat, which IPL delivers. If your discoloration appeared during pregnancy or on hormonal birth control and darkens in summer, it is more likely melasma than sun damage. We will say so at consultation rather than book you a course.
From $250 a session, and most people need three to five spaced about four weeks apart. Downtime is minimal - treated spots darken for a few days before flaking off.
It depends, and we screen for it. IPL is absorbed by pigment, so darker skin carries more risk. Where that applies we usually recommend a different approach rather than adjusting IPL settings and hoping.
